CPAP Recall Notice – Update Nov 2021

DEAR PATIENT:

The Phillips Respironics’ PAP recall replacement process is underway. We know that some patients have already received new units. WE DO NOT KNOW WHO AND WHEN OTHERS WILL RECEIVE THEIRS, THUS CANNOT ANSWER THAT FOR YOU.

WHAT WE DO KNOW AT THIS TIME:

The replacement devices are shipped directly to the patient at the address you provided when you registered. There is no advance notice of shipment from the manufacturer. It will just arrive. If you have a tracker set up with UPS or FedEx you may get notice from them. You will receive either a Dreamstation 2 or the original Dreamstation machine (with the approved insulation material).

Patients receiving the Dreamstation 2 should receive the following in the box:

  • A DreamStation 2 Device including CPAP and integrated humidifier
  • All associated accessories (humidifier tank, 1 disposable filter, 1 reusable filter, and CPAP tubing)
  • Patient QuickStart Guide and Image Guide (see below)
  • A return label, tape, cleaning instructions and instructions for returning the recalled device.

The pressure and ramp are already set on the machine as well as the ramp (see below) and humidity settings. Please plug in the device and allow at least five minutes for the prescription to automatically upload prior to initiating therapy or adjusting any settings. If questions about the settings on the device, please contact your equipment company for assistance. If you are missing any of the above components, contact the manufacturer directly.

The Dreamstation 2 ramp is auto-activated when the machine is turned on, instead of needing to push the ramp button to activate. If you are not accustomed to using the ramp, the pressure may feel lower than on your older machine. You may adjust or turn off this feature if uncomfortable. This is a feature on the device that you can control. The ramp can only be adjusted in 15 minute increments on the Dreamstation 2, instead of the option of 5 minutes which was available on the original Dreamstation.

Philips Respironics has put together a series of video tutorials to assist with the process and the links are listed below.
